The Association of Canadian Industrial Designers [ACID] is proud to present the first annual National Student Industrial Design Recognition Show hosted by Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver, BC February 23 – March 3, 2012.

The ACID first national student exhibition features the ‘best of the best’ final thesis 2011 student industrial design work as identified by regional Professional Members of ACID: the Association of Registered Industrial Designers of Ontario [ACID-O], l’Association des designer Industriels du Québec [ADIQ], and the British Columbia Industrial Designers Association [BCID], as well as participating schools of industrial design in the Provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia.

ACID did not specify specific design categories in this showcase—student work was juried and selected regionally on merit of overall presentation of work amongst peers and considering:
• final solution against chosen design brief
• clarity of presentation and communication
• demonstration of technical understanding
• selection and use of material and/or hardware
• execution of form and function
• thoroughness of research and design process
• viability of ‘economic’ and/or ‘sustainable’ choices

Originally established in 1948, ACID is the not-for-profit national organization of professional Canadian industrial designers with mandate to promote the advancement of education of industrial design in Canada. Emily Carr University of Art and Design (ECUAD) is British Columbia’s senior institution for art and design education founded in 1925.

The ACID National Student Industrial Design Recognition Show is intended to be an annually recurring event, moving across the country, and regionally hosted by ACID. For More Information about ACID visit, or Contact:
